Traduction de l’anglais "bar"

Dans le passage ci-dessous, tiré d’un article du Botanical Magazine (1841), quel peut être le sens du mot bars ?

"Elisena longipetala has completely the aspect of an Ismene. The form of Ismene deflexa, which has the cup reclining on the lower petals, and the upper filaments too long to fall into the cup, and therefore lying like bars across its mouth, brings the two genera nearer together, and makes it a question whether Elisena may not be rather a section of Ismene."

IL s'agit d'une comparaison et je choisirai le mot barreau car la ligne de filets tout en haut de la fleur ressemble bien à une rangée de barreaux d'après l'image sur le magazine donc cela va mieux que barres.
