Bonjour je suis en terminale L et j'ai fais un essai en Anglais: l'autobiographie d'un indien. Mais j'ai rencontrer quelques problèmes avec les temps.. Pouvez vous m'aider à corriger mes fautes svp? Merci d'avance! 🙂
My name is Edward Nappo, I’m the son of the last Indian chief, I was born and brought up in the reservation called Monegan. My parents lived a wondering life until white arrival. Indeed our two communities have signed many treaties but they were broken one after another, my father used to say: “Peace is rooted not in treaties but in the mind and heart of every man and women, however, we can’t continue to help people who are constantly trying to change us.” From that time, we started a merciless war against the colonizers; my people were isolated on camps called “reservations”. In each reservation an Indian agent’s supervising us for the American government and he was given the authority to control the rules about daily life, like entries or firearms; The American government was everywhere in the camps representing by the American flag flying in the wind. Then isolated farms were constantly attacked by bands of Indians and settlers were massacred, rather than stay on reservations many tribes rebelled against the American government.
When I was 21 years old I used to hunt with others riders, one day late one afternoon when returning from the camps we were met by a few women and children who told us that Americans troops had attacked our camp, killed all the warriors of the guards, captured all our ponies, secured our arms, destroyed our supplies, and killed many of our women and children… when all were counted, I found my mother, my father and my two younger sisters were among the slain.
My sibyls still living in a thirst of revenge but I remembered what my father said “more revenge and more such actions that will cause us our loss”, and I always tried to stop them. I was no chief and ever had been, but because I had been more deeply wronged than others this honor was conferred upon me, and I resolved to prove worthy of the trust.
But one day tired by conflicts, I leaved the camps. Now I’m the last Nappo.
