Le dossier de LVA anglais

Bonjour,
J'écris ce message en dernier recours.
Je suis absolument paniquée! Je vais passer mon BAC libre cette année et, pour des raisons qui me dépasse, l'on m'a inscris en option lourde "Anglais approfondis". Je n'ai aucun problème avec la langue de Shakespeare en elle même, mais plus tôt avec l'épreuve orale que l'on nous impose!
N'ayant jamais pratiquée cette matière je ne sais pas de combien de pages doit être composé les dossiers, j'ignore quel genre de documents doivent s'y trouver et, bien sur, si notre argumentation dois y être écrite ou pas…
S'il vous plais répondez moi vite, c'est très urgent, je rentre en France dans deux semaines et les épreuves ne sont guère loin derrière…

Salut tout le monde ! A quelques jours de mon oral je finalise mes dossiers. Je voudrais avoir la confirmation que chaque partie du développement porte sur un document. Par exemple pour Mythes et Héros ma première partie est sur un article sur Oscar Pistorius que j'analyse et que j'explique. Ma deuxième partie sur la Une du Time's Magazine que j'analyse et que j'explique également, ect… Est-ce que c'est bien comme ça qu'on fait ?

Bonjour, je suis en Terminale L et j'ai quelques questions concernant le dossier de LVA en Anglais.

1) Est-ce que cela pourrait poser un problème que je ré-utilise un document complémentaire que j'ai déjà traité dans une thématique de LeLe, dans une notion de LVA ? C'est le film V pour Vendetta que je traiterai donc pour "Lieux et formes de pouvoir" et "le personnage, ses figures, ses transformations". Quoi qu'il en soit mon dossier a été tamponné par ma professeur mais cela me perturbe, je sais que je pourrai traiter le film pour ces deux aspects mais est-ce que le correcteur peut en tenir rigueur ?


2) En LeLe, si j'ai 2 docs du cours + 2 docs persos dans la notion 1 // 3 docs du cours + 1 doc perso, est-ce que cela peut poser un problème ?

3) Faut il que je fasse un dossier comprenant LeLe + LVA pour le correcteur ainsi qu'un autre pour moi, ou du moins est-ce préférable ?

Bonjour ! Je passe mon oral de Lele en candidate libre mais je suis un peu perdue.

J'ai mon second dossier à finaliser, mais je ne sais pas quelle problématique choisir. J'avais tout d'abord choisi d'étudier les extraits de ces trois textes : "Samuel Pepys diary's", "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" and "The Color Purple, mais je souhaite opter pour d'autres œuvres. Je souhaite garder The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society et ajouter les films Pride and Prejudice et comme document personnel, j'hésite encore. Peut-être Frida, Danse avec les loups ou bien Aliker ?

Ce qui me pose le plus de problème, c'est la problématique qui mettra en évidence les points communs ou différences de ces textes.

Si quelqu'un pouvait m'aider, ce serait sympa.

Je trouve ces éplucheurs de patates ….bien sympathiques ; On peut le relier aux thèmes de la résistance, de la guerre, de l'amitié ,de la lecture, de la transmission.
Vous le savez sans doute, ce roman épistolaire a été écrit (par la force des choses) par deux sœurs américaines qui ont su admirablement pasticher le style anglais.

Je vous proposerais bien le film Dead Poet Society : bien sûr il est un peu "vu et revu" Les élèves toutefois "emprisonnés" dans cette école austère , jouent à être des résistants. Les thèmes de l'amitié et de la transmission , de la beauté des mots et le fameux Carpe Diem et "pense par toi-même" y ont toute leur place.
Les élèves ne sont sans doute pas capables de bien saisir ce message de liberté du célèbre professeur Keaton…un élève désespéré se suicidera ; le film se termine par une note d'espoir quand les élèves montent sur leur table pour saluer leur prof "captain!"
"O Captain ,My Captain" est un poème célèbre écrit par Walt Whitman à la mort d'Abraham Lincoln (ce qui nous ramène à une autre guerre )cet aspect du film est moins connu .Je pense qu'évoquer cet aspect du film peut constituer un point fort.

J'ai en effet un peu de mal à voir ce qui relie pour vous "The Guernsey Literary…" et "Pride and Prejudice"

Je pensais au livre "The help" (rassurez-vous, il existe en film pour avoir une idée assez juste des grandes lignes). Vous le connaissez sans doute: c'est une jeune fille blanche qui se lance dans l'écriture d'un livre, véritable manifeste, sur la conditions des "bonnes" ou "servantes" noires (Afro-americans) du temps de la ségrégation. Il y a donc les thèmes de résistance, de la force des mots et de l'écriture, de l'amitié, une naissance de victoire….

J'ai choisi le thème du "Je" de l'écrivain et "jeu" de l'écriture, mais comme sous-thèmes j'étudie les écrits personnels
C'est vrai que "Pride and Prejudice" et "The Guernsey and Literary" n'ont pas l'air d'avoir quelque chose en commun, mais je pensais qu'étant donné que ces deux œuvres faisaient partie de la même thématique, je pouvais les relier ensemble. J'hésitais à mettre un poème justement en croyant que ça ne serait peut-être pas en lien avec mon dossier. Mais comme l'auteur à différentes façons de s'exprimer, le poème devrait fonctionner avec mes deux autres textes, non ? Donc si les poèmes sont acceptés, un speech de Martin Luther King devrait aussi faire l'affaire ?

Tous ces écrits ne sont pas forcément inspirés de faits réels ou destinés à être lu par qui que ce soit, pourtant, nous nous apercevons que dans la littérature les écrits “personnels” peuvent définir un genre littéraire et également être adapté dans le monde du cinéma.


Comment les auteurs parviennent-ils à toucher les lecteurs et à influencer leur jugement ?

Les deux premières œuvres que j'ai choisi sont , "The Guernsey and Literary…" écrit par Anne Marie Shaffer et sa nièce, et la seconde est le film "The Help". Nous allons commencer par nous intéresser à la place qu'occupe l'auteur ou narrateur dans l'histoire, et nous mettrons en évidence comment le narrateur parvient, en nous laissant connaître son intimité ( sentiments, réflexions, etc ) et à avoir une influence sur nous.

Je choisirais je pense : "The Guernsey and Literary", "The Help" et en effet le discours de Martin Luther King "I have a dream"(ex) qui rentre tout à fait dans ce thème (en ayant soin de bien le situer dans les écrits de MLK)

"O Captain ,my captain " est un poème qui est dirigé vers "l'autre" et ne rentre donc pas bien dans ce thème.

Avez-vous lu The catcher in the Rye qui est un livre très fort et tout à fait singulier (et approprié pour ce thème) de Salinger par hasard?

My presentation will deal with the theme of the “The I and the Eye”. In life we live experiences that leave a mark on us and occasionally we put them down in a diary, autobiography or that we share with family or friends in a letter. All these writings are not necessarily inspired by real facts or destined to being read by anyone. However, we can see in literature that personal writings can redefine a sort of literature and also being adapted in cinema’s world.

How the author manage to move the readers and influence their judgement ?

We start with an analysis of an extract of “The Guernsey and Literary Potato Peel Pie Society” written by Anne Mary Shaffer and his niece Annie Barrows. The second extract illustrating this thematic is the speech of Martin Luther King pronounced in 1963 during the Washington March. Finally, we’ll study the film “The Help” film adaptation of the book “Help” that Aibileen Clark, Skeeter Phelan, and Minny Jackson collaborate on. We’ll take an interest in the place of the author or narrator in the story, and highlight the way he uses in allowing us to enter his privacy through his feelings to influence us.
On one hand, the first text is an extract of the novel of Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It’s a fictional epistolary novel based on real historical facts. It takes place in 1946 after the German Occupation, between England and Guernsey in the Channel Islands. The title “The Guernsey and Literary Potato and Peel Pie Society” be fully realised. In the book, the members of the society used to gather around a meal to talk about books.The books were for them a symbol of escape. Juliet Ashton is the main character also the narrator. She is writing a letter to her friend “Dear Mr Adams”(l.2). She speaks as “I”. This letter add a special touch to the work. The character seems more realistic to us. On the other hand, we have the speech of Martin Luther King, one the emblematic figure of the Civil Rights Movement. Relevant speech against the battle he led towards racial discrimination. He speaks in his behalf “ I have a dream today” but also in the behalf of the community “We cannot turn back”. He couldn’t stand the injustice that the black suffer in America and especially Mississippi. Unlike Juliet, he is more determined. He express himself more confidently because he has to convey people to take a stance for his battle, their battle. We can see despite of the differences of these texts, they aim to convey a message to the reader.
Whether the narrator is a fictional or real character, the way he uses to tell about his feelings, his opinions will always have an effect of the person who read it.

For instance in the case of Juliet Ashton, the historical context add real dimension at her character, showing that the war is recent emphasize it : “I hadn’t realised that the Germans permitted no outside news at all…”; “The library suffered terrible bomb damage”. Throughout her letter, her warm and friendly tone add a personal touch to the text. We can imagine writing the letter for Dawsey. She always addresses cordial way in thanking him to the letter she receives, or in relating the details of her life. She opens up to him in expressing her feelings. Juliet shares with him her gratefulness for his present, but also shares with him her shame in not sufficiently know about the German Occupation and Guernsey “Wilful Ignorance” she said. She also shares with him her anger while she hears about Dawsey Adam’s friend sent in a camp concentration.
In the case of Martin Luther King, the syntax will be different. Contrary to Juliet, he pronounces a speech addressed to the american community. Each paragraph won’t be devoid of sense. Each paragraph contains some comparisons, allusions or puns. He have a dream he said and repeat it in several paragraph. He dream of a united America, american dream which have been quoted more than one century before his speech. Through his speech, we can observe his determination to change things. He wanted that the promulgated promises for the freedom of each individual will be respected and that the racial discrimination stops.
We meet the characters through the experience he share with us with his feelings. We discover their thoughts, but also what they really feel. This limited point of view permit us to develop a certain complicity with the narrator. We know what the others characters don’t know about him.
This first person narrative permit us to know all about the speaker and we can identify us to her.
The Help is a film adaptation of the novel written by the American writer Kathryn Skott and published in 2009. It’s a collaboration of two black women who are domestic and a white woman. Through this novel, those women wanted to reveal the reality of the work conditions of the black domestics in Mississippi. The title “The Help” refers to black women who are working for the white families in Mississippi as nurse, but it also refers at the novel “Help” written by Aibileen Clark, Skeeter Phelan and Minny Jackson. This adaptation hits the box office in America in 2011, with more than 26 million dollars. But also received Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress.
I think the fact that brings words to reflection, allow us to have a more realistic vision, of the details of the book. The readers don’t have to imagine each detail of the book, but the film tries to being more in agreement with the book of Kathryn Skott. Although it’s just a movie, he doesn’t talk trivials things. With the performance we go from the laughter to tears, and that’s what it touch us. Just like the book, the persons can see themselves in each woman. We discover all their battles and can sympathize with them.

To sum it up, i think these extract well reflect the theme. For each work, the narrator fictional or real open up to us. They share with us their privacy, they reveal their feelings. They didn’t seek to speak in Shakespeare language, but they give themselves to us in the more natural way of the language and mentality of the their time. They tried to make an impression by changing the minds of their audience. They tried to provoke a reaction from. They wanted to get themselves heard, and move the audience.

As conclusion, i think these personal writings will always get something out for us in making us think, whether their impact on us negative or not.

AS A CONCLUSION, I think these extracts ARE RELEVANT OF THE THEME the "I" and the "eye". For each work, the narrator fictional or real openS up to us. They share with us their privacy, they reveal their feelings. They dOn’t seek to speak in A TOO SOPHISTICATED WAY, but they give themselves to us in the more natural way of the language and mentality of the their time. They trY to make an impression by changing the minds of their audience. They STRIVE to provoke a reaction from US. They want to get themselves heard, and move the audience.

I think these personal writings will SOMEHOW TOUCH US BY making us think,( whether their impact on us negative or not.(note trop negative je finirai par🙂and also learn about events we have not witnessed.

alors je trouve cela bien ,mais il me semble que de revenir au style ,après avoir parlé des deux premières œuvres fait "fouillis" Je pense qu'il fat joindre le fond et la forme pour chaque œuvre;c'est plus facile à suivre

Puis tu présentes (comme un peu à part) The Help avec l'histoire sans parler du fait que c'est une femme blanche qui par son insistance persuade les femmes noires de parler :elle "est" leurs yeux et leurs bouches;On a peu d'analyse stylistique.(Est-il utile de citer les titres reçus, de dire que ce n'est pas parce que c'est un film qu'il n'aborde pas des sujets sérieux)

Ca depuis Costa Gavras et avec Ken Loach,les deux premiers qui me viennent à l'esprit, on le sait depuis longtemps, non?

She hoped that their employers would see them in more human way.

With the performance we go from the laughter to tears, and that’s what moves us. Just like the book, the people can see themselves in each woman. We discover all their struggles and can sympathize with them.

As a conclusion, I think these extracts are relevant of the them the “I” and the “eye”. For each work, the narrator fictional or real opens up to us. He shares with us his privacy, he reveals his feelings. He doesn’t seek to speak in a too sophisticated way, but he gives himself to us in the more natural way of the language and mentality of his time. My presentation will deal with the theme of the “The I and the Eye”. In life we live experiences that leave a mark on us and occasionally we put them down in a diary in the form of an autobiography or something we share with our family or friends in a letter. All these writings are not necessarily inspired by real facts or destined to being read by anyone. However, we can see in literature that personal writings can redefine a sort of literature that can sometimes be adapted on the screen.
How does the author manage to move the readers and influence their judgement ?

We WILL start with an analysis of an extract FROM “The Guernsey and Literary Potato Peel Pie Society” written by Anne Mary Shaffer and her niece Annie Barrows. The second extract illustrating this thematic is the speech of Martin Luther King pronounced in 1963 during the Washington March. Finally, we’ll study the film “The Help” adaptated from the book “The Help” written by Kathryn Skott with the collaboration of Aibileen Clark, Skeeter Phelan, and Minny Jackson. We will underline the place of the author or narrator in the story, and highlight the literary means he or she uses to make us share his or her private feelings to influence us.
The first text I have chosen is an extract of the novel of Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It’s a fictional epistolary novel based on l historical facts. It takes place in 1946 after the German Occupation, . The title “The Guernsey and Literary Potato and Peel Pie Society” is a reality. In the book, the members of the society used to gather around a meal to talk about books.The books were for them a way of escaping the German Occupation. Juliet Ashton is the main character and also the narrator. She is writing a letter to her friend “Dear Mr Adams”(l.2). She speaks as “I”. This letter adds a special touch to the work. We can imagine her writing the letter for Dawsey. The character seems realistic to us. She opens up to him by expressing her feelings. Juliet shares with him her gratefulness for his present, but also shares with him her shame in not sufficiently knowing about the German Occupation and Guernsey “Wilful Ignorance”as she puts it . She also shares with him her anger while she hears about Dawsey Adam’s friend sent in a camp concentration. Also, the historical context adds a real dimension to her character, showing that the war is truly at stake: “I hadn’t realised that the Germans permitted no outside news at all…”; “The library suffered terrible bomb damage”.
Let us come to my second choice Martin Luther King's speech.Martin Luther King was an emblematic pacifist figure of the Civil Rights Movement. We read a relevant speech against the battle he led against racial discrimination. He speaks on his behalf “ I have a dream today” but also on the behalf of the African American people “We cannot turn back”. He couldn’t stand segregation that the blacks suffered in America and especially in the southern states.
