hey are happy they are an approach is to look very fundamentally at the whole issue of why we need to buy and consume too many resources for a good quality of life.

They are happy.
An approach is to look very fundamentally at the whole issue of why we need to buy and consume too many resources for a good quality of life.
WHY COULDN'T LYNN AND HER HUSBAND BE THOROUGHLY (FULLY/COMPLETLY) happy?

BONJOUR

Some people who practice voluntary simplicity act consciously to reduce their need for purchased services or goods and, by extension, their need to sell their time for money. Lynn Kidder had two jobs _computer programming and teaching the piano. She and her husband earned 2,700 a month, but there were too busy to be happy it. Lynn wanted to play the piano, not teach it. SO, they took a course in voluntary simplicity. They learned how to cut their spending and make the most of their savings. After four years of voluntary simplicity, they gave up all their jobs and joined the new leisured class.

The newly leisured call themselves downshifters. Nobody knows how many there are, or whether insecurity, stress or ecological concern is their main motive. But Lynn Kidder is sure the movment is “speading wildly, recognised as a smarter way to live. You make space in your life for what you really car about”.

The apprentice downsizer’s firts task its’Find out how much money you have earned in your life and compare it with what you’ve got now” . Step 2 is to work out your net hourly wage, keep track of every cent you spend and ask: “Did I get fulfilment, satisfaction or value in proportion to the energy spent? Souldn’t I choose quality of life over standard of living”

The advice is:buy what you need and don’t go”shopping”; service your appliances, do it yourself, buy in on sales_provided it’s something your really need or want, buy used; don’t go into debt on credit cards, walk and cycle.

Downshifters predict that a less consumerist future will restore a sense of community. As the movment spreads, there will be more people per household goods, , more coorporation in repairing household goods, more car pools and tool sharing. Through simple living people are not-dropping out, they are actually dropping in: to community, to family, to relashionships.

Refugees from hzrd life find work better on the other side. At Charlene MacMahonwrote in “the SEATTLE’S SIMPLE LIVING “NEWSLETTER:
“when you simplify your life, you do fewer of the things yyou don’t like to do. Your nurture only those people and relashionships which enhance your life. This is not about deprivation_this is about choice”

Simple living (or voluntary simplicity) is a lifestyle in which individuals consciously choose to minimize the 'more-is-better' pursuit of wealth and consumption. Adherents choose simple living for a variety of reasons, including spirituality, health, increase in 'quality time' for family and friends, stress reduction, conservation, social justice or anti-consumerism, while others choose to live more simply for reasons of personal taste or personal economy.
Simple living as a concept is distinguished from those living in forced poverty, as it is a voluntary lifestyle choice. Although asceticism may resemble voluntary simplicity, proponents of simple living are not all ascetics. The term "downshifting" is often used to describe the act of moving from a lifestyle of greater consumption towards a lifestyle based on voluntary simplicity
Some people who practice voluntary simplicity act consciously to reduce their need for purchased services or goods and, by extension, their need to sell their time for money. Some will spend the extra free time this generates helping their family or others in a voluntary way. During the holiday season, such people often perform alternative giving. Others may spend the extra free time to improve their own quality of life, for example pursuing creative activities such as art and craft.
Another approach is to look very fundamentally at the whole issue of why we need to buy and consume too many resources for a good quality of life

Principles at a smaller scale than through modern nations, e.g. the ecovillage. This view is often allied with a general critique of globalization as industrial capitalism, colonial imperialism, or a neoliberal "neocolonialism." Such a pairing is not universal among practitioners of simple living, however, who may denounce such obsession with worldly affairs as distasteful or unseemly.
Opposition to paying taxes for war has led some to choose to reduce their income to a level where they would owe no taxes as a form of tax resistance.[1]
Living simply may involve reconsidering personal definitions of "appropriate technology", as Anabaptist groups such as the Amish or Mennonites have done. People who eschew modern technology are often referred to as Luddites.
People who practice simple living have diverse views on the role of technology. Some simple living adherents, such as Kirkpatrick Sale, are strong critics of technology, while others see the Internet as a key component of simple living in the future, including the reduction of an individual's carbon footprint through telecommuting and less reliance on paper. Voluntary simplicity may include high-tech components — indeed computers, Internet, photovoltaic arrays, wind and water turbines, and a variety of other cutting-edge technologies can be used to make a simple lifestyle within mainstream culture easier and more sustainable.
The idea of food miles, the number of miles a given item of food, or its ingredients, has travelled between the farm and the table, is used by simple living advocates to argue for locally grown food, and this idea is gaining mainstream acceptance. Some argue that computers and the Internet will allow people to do things they needed a car to do before, such as work or shopping, while video games and movies will make staying at home a much more attractive option.
Advertising is criticised for encouraging a consumerist mentality. Many advocates of voluntary simplicity tend to agree that cutting out, or cutting down, on television viewing is a key ingredient in simple living. Some see the Internet, podcasting, community radio or pirate radio as viable alternatives.

Bon courage…

OK
Alors

Downshifters usually take intoaccount
the reduction
of their need : le mot need doit être au pluriel (le possessif their est pluriel)
for puchased : purchased
services or
good : good doit aussi être au pluriel ; es-tu sûre que ce mot signifie des biens matériels ?
The : they
wonder
wether : je ne suis pas sûre de ce wether, if me paraît mieux
they have got
enought : enough
satisfaction in proportion to
the energy they've spent.

Downshifters usually take intoaccount the reduction of their need for purchased services or goods. They wonder whether they have got enough satisfaction on proporion to the energy they've
ma réponse: Downshifters don't "wonder whether they have got enough satisfaction in the proportion of the energy they've spent", they consciously decide to earn less, spend less, and focus on what is really important to them. They focus on value, not on price. They value non-material things, such as community.

je te remets la question: La question est What did their course in Volontary Simplicity teach them about 25 WORDS je répondrai They can do fewer of the things they don't like to do. next the nurturThey lear to live simple : voir si j'ai mieux repondu à la question , peux tu me corriger cette fois si?

(30 mots) DOWNSHIFTERS USUALLY TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE REDUCTION OF THEIR NEED FOR PURCHASED SERVICES OR GOODS. Seems to me that you are missing some key ingredients:
Downshifters don't "wonder whether they have got enough satisfaction in the proportion of the energy they've spent", they consciously decide to earn less, spend less, and focus on what is really important to them. They focus on value, not on price. They value non-material things, such as community.
